Description
Multi-Pitch, Advanced Rock Climbing
Overview
The Lake District offers a wealth of amazing rock climbs, from popular buttresses in Langdale valley to high mountain crags on Scafell and remote climbs on Esk Buttress.
This advanced course will take you out on a big day for a long mountain crag route where you will learn about route selection and finding, using double ropes, and setting up a belay stance. Depending on your ambitions, this course could also be a great opportunity to get onto your first lead climb if you’re up for it. There will be opportunity to discuss what you want to get from the course with your instructor so that this day can be tailored around the needs of the group.
We will be exploring all aspects of climbing, tailored to suit your needs depending on your experience. With a low ratio of 1:3 we can ensure that we have sufficient time to have an in depth approach to learning. Lead climbing skills are introduced safely and progressively by highly experienced instructors to ensure you get the most from your course.
Techniques covered will include:
– Knowing your gear and learning to manage it while climbing
– An understanding of climbing grade systems
– Efficiently taking out and placing protection
– Setting up safe belay stances
– Efficient rope management and belaying
– Movement skills
