Dambusters Run Helicopter Tour Sheffield (20 Mins)

During the flight you will retrace one of the Dambuster training routes flown by the famous 617 Squadron’s as they mastered low-level flying and perfected their ‘dambusting’ technique over the stunning scenery of the Peak District. Retrace the steps of our greatest heroes and gain insight into the daily lives of 617 Squadron in their Avro Lancasters, as they prepared for their daring strike on the Ruhr Valley.

You will fly at around 1500 feet, taking in some of the most picturesque scenery the Peak District has to offer, the helicopter then overflys Ladybower Dam, Howden Dam, and the twin towers of Derwent Dam. The Dambusters pleasure flight is available on several weekends throughout the year.

A thoroughly enjoyable pleasure flight around the High Peak / Dark Peak area of Derbyshire which lasts approximately 20 minutes.

You can fly from either The Huntsman, Greenfield Rd, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD9 3XF or Windy Harbour Farm Hotel, Woodhead Road, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 7QE.

20 minute flights from Windy Harbour also overfly the wreckage of the “Flying Fortress” an American WWII Boeing B29 bomber that crashed on the moorland of Bleaklow in 1948.
