Description

The Yorkshire Three Peaks helicopter ride is available from The Craven Arms at Giggleswick, Settle as a 30 minute flight to cover the famous Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent Peaks along with the surround villages, landmarks and spectacular countryside.

The helicopter will usually fly at an altitude of around 1500 feet, offering views of some of the favourite beauty spots of the Yorkshire Dales and its prominent limestone features of The Craven Fault. This fault generally defines the boundary between the limestone uplands of the higher Dales and the gentler scenery to the south and west.

During the flight you will make an unforgettable tour firstly travelling North flying past Austwick and the valley of Clapdale featuring the village of Clapham, a well-known starting point for the ascent up Ingleborough, the ‘flat-topped’ second highest peak in Yorkshire at 2,372 feet above sea level. The flight generally tracks between Ingleborough and Ingleton enabling passengers to cover the famous limestone areas surrounding Ingleton with its caves and waterfalls. Progressing over to Whernside the highest of the Three Peaks and the highest summit in Yorkshire at 2,415 feet above sea level, you obtain an unrivalled panorama of the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, the most impressive structure situated on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, with its 24 arches, 104 feet above the beautiful landscape. Next coming into view is Pen-y-Ghent which is the smallest of the Three Peaks standing at 2,277 feet above sea level, en-route to Malham Tarn, followed by spectacular views of Gordale Scar, Malham Cove with Malham village nestling at the foot of the amazing famous limestone pavement.

From Malham the pilot takes you back via Settle to the Craven Arms at Giggleswick to complete a truly memorable flight.
