Overview

This is an exciting course for anyone keen to push their scrambling grade and for one of the best Alpine-style days out that the Lake District has to offer.  The Lake District has some of the finest scrambling and mountaineering in Britain, for all levels of experience and ability. We will take you out into the challenging terrain of the Lake District’s tougher scrambles.

This is an introduction to higher grade scrambling routes, looking at techniques and rope-work skills for the safe ascent of Grade 2 and 3 scrambles.

Thrilling exposure and an alpine feel go hand in hand with Grade 3 scrambling. The classic route of Pinnacle Ridge would be one of the ports of call for technicality, challenge and exposure, as a perfect introduction to Grade 3 scrambling.

Safety equipment and scrambling equipment such as helmets, rope, slings, cams and nuts are provided by us.

Experience and Fitness

If you have previous scrambling experience, or have joined our Beginner’s Scrambling Course, this course is a perfect follow-up to gain more in-depth skills. A good level of hillwalking fitness in required.

Day 1

We meet at our office in Staveley at 9am.

From here we chat further through your plans and aims of the course, as well as looking over the conditions on the ground and weather forecast.

From here we head off into the mountains choosing a suitable location for Grade 2 or 3 scrambling. We plan to be out all day.

Day 2

We meet in the mornings for another, shorter scramble in a different location. We return back mid-afternoon to allow time for an individual debrief at Wilf’s cafe.

What’s included

• Two days instruction by a qualified guide.

• All scrambling equipment hire.

• Group safety kit including group first aid kit.

What’s not included

• Travel to and from the Lake District

• Accommodation is not included, however this can be arrange by contacting us.
