- Prepare a seasonal game bird
Air Crash Survivor
We start the day with Air Crash Survivor to set the scene. Items will be spread throughout the forest for you to collect. Your task is then to prioritise the items in order of usefulness. The situation described is based on over 2000 actual cases in which men and women lived or died depending upon the survival decisions they made. The survival of your group will depend on how well you can share knowledge & reach a consensus decision in an unfamiliar situation.
You will then be introduced to the art of fire lighting. After a demonstration on ‘fire by friction’ using a ‘bow drill’ you will get the chance to hone your skills on the kit yourself. We will also demonstrate alternative fire lighting methods with a mix of modern and old techniques. The satisfaction you will get from gaining control over fire is amazing!
Once you have mastered the art of fire lighting you will prepare a fantastic meal of seasonal game bird, with a dough bannock on the side. We will demonstrate how to breast a game bird and under the watchful eye of the instructor you will prepare your own meal. It will be cooked for you and served in a wrap with salad and relish. Whilst your bird is cooking, you will make a dough bannock to cook over the embers of the camp fire. With the option of sweet or savoury: choose from chocolate chunks and a splash of honey or cheese, bacon and herbs.
